Thought Field Therapy (TFT)

What is Thought Field Therapy (TFT)?

Thought Field Therapy is a simple and effective technique for the rapid relief of emotional distress. The treatments are gentle and make use of the body’s natural control system.

TFT is a non-invasive technique where the client taps on various parts of the body with their fingers whilst focusing on the specific problem. (Please note, clients do their own tapping whilst the therapist demonstrates what to do). This stimulates the body’s energy meridians (energy pathways) in a similar way to acupuncture, however needles are not required.

TFT is a totally unique form of meridian therapy which was discovered and developed by Dr. Roger Callahan PhD, a Californian clinical psychologist with over 40 years of experience. It is best described as a natural, drug-free, non-invasive system to eliminate the cause of negative emotions.

Who is it for?

TFT is a great tool for people who would like to see lasting results achieved quickly. It has been used to great effect to alleviate symptoms of trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) around the world [link to TFT Trauma Foundation http://www.tftfoundation.org/], however no problem is too small to treat with TFT and if something is bothering you, why not change it?

To quote Dr. Roger Callahan:

"This work is not like any other psychological approach. I believe that we have found the basic cause of psychological problems. This underlying cause is unrelated to other previous theories. Unlike a placebo, you don't have to believe in the treatments; as you will see they work even if you don't believe in them!"


How will it benefit me?

If you suffer from a phobia, or feelings of panic, anxiousness, or stress, you can become overwhelmed by emotion. Similarly, if you suffer from addiction or other destructive patterns of behaviour, you can find the associated feelings overpowering.

However, what we frequently perceive as ‘negative’ emotions are in fact often essential and justified. If we didn’t feel a certain amount of fear and apprehension when crossing a busy road for example, we may endanger ourselves by taking unnecessary risks. What is important is that we experience these emotions appropriately if we are to lead a healthy, balanced life.

TFT helps you break free of these damaging patterns by separating the thought from the emotion. The connection can often be broken, and consequently the problem resolved, extremely quickly.

How long does it take?

Please allow up to 90 minutes when we meet for the first time. During which time we will get to know one another, and discuss a care plan for you designed to meet your specific needs.
